I have a nice collection of cookbooks — all of which I don’t use nearly enough. But it’s a collection that I’ve curated over the years; I have tested the recipes offered by these books time and again, and I’m never disappointed. Let’s have a look at what’s inside:
Kansha | I can’t remember if this was lent to me or given to me! Whoops!
The Big Book of Vegan Recipes | I’ve had a lot of success preparing recipes from this book for parties and picnics — the macaroni salad is perfect!
The Joy of Vegan Baking | The chocolate chip cookie recipe is amazing
Color Me Vegan | My FAVORITE cook book!
But I Could Never Be Vegan | New to my library, I don’t know if I’ve made anything from this yet, but I LOVE the name!
Fresh from the Vegan Slow Cooker | You can’t go wrong with these recipes! I love the variety of chili recipes — one of which I have made for Chilis on Wheels!
The 30-Day Vegan Challenge | My mom and I followed this book a few years ago — I was so increadibly proud of her!
The Daily Vegan | Not a cookbook; rather, a guided journal
Vegan Pie in the Sky | I’ve never made anything from this cookbook because I’m intimidated, but Isa Chandra Moskowitz…
This Can’t Be Tofu | A whole cookbook for tofu!?
The CVG Recipe Binder | For all that stuff grandma and grandpa shared with me, and my 1,369 mashed potato recipes because I can’t never make them perfectly…
VegNews Magazines with Recipes
And there you have it! All my recipes…well, all excluding the 8GB recipe folder I have saved on my computer!! But that’s for another day.
*Please note: I struggle greatly with these books — one of which was a gift, the other I later bought — because of their title and the selected language of the series. Ultimately, I am choosing to share Thug Kitchen as a resource for recipes, because the food is delicious. However, I absolutely do not condone the racism embedded in the language and theme of this cookbook.
The Thug Kitchen books are fantastic, hilarious books and you love them…get off your high horse.
@ym, I appreciate your feedback, but not the disrespect. Now, I clearly like the books, I have two in my pantry. That being said, the undertone of this series is indeed racist. Pointing that racism out does not put me on a high horse. NOT pointing it out, however, would be privileged and neglectful. This is an intersectional website — meaning that racism will not go unnoticed or unaddressed. I can see how it’s a challenging topic, though; I may consider a post on this sometime soon to help explain the issue with this cookbook series. Thanks for reaching out!
Yeah…yet you love the cursing old grandma…#hypocrite
Well that’s a nonsensical comment. Where’s it coming from? I actually do mention my grandma in this post but it comes from a positive view. I think you might need a lesson in #logic. Anyway, as always, thanks for reaching out. I’m happy to provide the space for visitors to express themselves.
